Fall 2026 Tryout Information
Tryouts for Girls Track will be held the second week of school, on Monday, August 31st, and will run for three days (weather-dependent). Tryouts will begin immediately after school at 3 pm and run until 4:45 pm. Students should be picked up from RRMS no later than 5 pm. An updated Arbiter account, including current sports physical and concussion training are required before students can participate in tryouts. For more information on requirements, please see the Reagan Athletics webpage.
For tryouts, athletes should bring comfortable clothes, running shoes, and a water bottle. Athletes may use the link below to register for tryouts. This is not mandatory, but it does save us time on the first day of tryouts.

For summer training, we recommend that you run 3 times a week with a 1-day break in between workouts. See sample workouts below. There are also several local programs that offer summer training and conditioning. The Cedar Run Track Club is a great summer program that runs from June 15th - July 23rd with the opportunity to participate in four (optional) intrasquad meets. This is a great way to work on your form and get in shape before the season starts. You can register at https://www.cedarruntrack.com/. Virginia Pride and NVA are two additional programs that also offer training and conditioning. Summer Workout #1 (for beginners or athletes in summer sports that do not involve running)
- 2 min warm up (light jog)
- Dynamic Stretching (hamstrings, calves, quads, etc.)
- 5 min easy run, 1 min walk
- 5 min medium run, 1 min walk (3 sets)
- 2 min walk
- Static Stretching (hamstrings, calves, quads, etc.)
Summer Workout #2 for Sprinters (if you run 55M, 100M, 200M, 400M)
- 2 min warm up (light jog)
- Dynamic Stretching (hamstrings, calves, quads, etc.)
- 5 min easy run, 1 min walk
- 10M High Knees walk back (3 sets)
- 10M Skips walk back (3 sets)
- 10M Butt Kicks walk back (3 sets)
- 50M Striders walk back (5 sets)
- 2 min walk
- Static Stretching (hamstrings, calves, quads, etc.)
Summer Workout #2 for Distance Runners (if you run 800M, 1600M)
- 2 min warm up (light jog)
- Dynamic Stretching (hamstrings, calves, quads, etc.)
- 6 min easy run, 1 min walk
- 7 min medium run, 1 min optional walk (3 sets)
- 2 min walk
- Static Stretching (hamstrings, calves, quads, etc.)
