Dear Ronald Reagan community,

Welcome to the start of the 2026-2027 school year!  Here is this week's update:

Optional Device Insurance

PWCS will contract with a third-party vendor to offer low-cost student device insurance again this year. If purchased, the insurance covers unlimited repairs or replacements for everything from broken screens, lost chargers, and accidental damage, with a zero deductible for one year on a school-issued iPad. The insurance cost is $29.95 for the full year, which may be significantly less than repair or replacement costs without insurance. For more information, please click here.

Lockdown Drill - September 15

In accordance with Virginia Code, this is notification that we will conduct a lockdown drill on Tuesday, September 15th.  Prior to this drill, teachers will have a discussion with their students on securing their classroom and what they should do in the event of a lockdown. During the drill, the whole building (including the main office) will be closed, locked, and silent.

Front Office Reminders

To report an absence: Please submit any absences on the day of the absence or up to 30 days in advance using the Report Absence button in ParentVUE. If the absence has already passed, please email our attendance mailbox at [email protected] . Please include your student's full name, the date(s) of the absence, and the reason for the absence. We cannot accept attendance over the phone.

For early dismissal: You must come into the building to pick up your student. Please have a picture ID available and check your student out using our iPads. We CANNOT check students out between 2:30 PM and our regular dismissal time at 3:00 PM. Please plan to be here no later than 2:30 PM.

To drop off items/lunches at school: Please let your student know that the item has been dropped off by sending them an email. They do not have phone access during the day, but they can check email. The front office cannot always notify students that they have items or lunches in the front office in a timely manner

Dress Code

As we transition from summer at the pool to fall in the classroom, please help us by reminding your child about our Dress Code, which can be found in our Student Handbook. To access the most up-to-date version, parents and students should access the handbook in the “Student Commons” page via Canvas. Parents can access this page by signing up for a parent Canvas account. If you need help signing up, please contact our Instructional Technology Coach, Mr. Piette, here. Click here to read how we navigate dress code concerns.

PTSO Information

8th Grade Parents: Ceiling Tiles for our rising 8th graders can be purchased,  picked up, and dropped off throughout the summer. Information on Ceiling  Tiles can be found here.

Businesses: The PTSO is conducting the banner fundraiser again this  year. If you have a business and would like to display a banner during the  next school year, please read this document for more information. You can  download the agreement here

Back to School Website

Please check out the Division’s Back to School website, which has a wealth of information for parents about technology, bus schedules, health and medical forms, etc.

School Immunizations

The deadline for students to meet Virginia’s mandatory immunization requirements for public school enrollment is  Thursday, August 21, 2026. If proof of required immunizations is not provided by the deadline, the student will not be  permitted to start school on Monday, August 24. More information can be found on the Division website.

Fall Sports Tryouts

Is your child planning to try out for one of our fall sports? Visit this page to see the schedule for tryouts, download the sports physical form, and sign up for Arbiter, where you will upload your student’s physical and complete the concussion training.

Important Points of Interest

  • Students will only be allowed to carry water bottles throughout the building. They cannot carry any other drinks  including soda, energy drinks, fast food/Starbucks cups, etc.
  • Parents may drop off lunch for students, but students may not receive food deliveries such as DoorDash, UberEats, etc. Parents may only drop off food for their own student, not to feed other students as well.

RRMS Technology Replacement and Insurance

Each student will be given an iPad, case, charging block, charging cord, and headphones to start the school year. Please remember that these devices and accessories are the property of PWCS and need to be treated with care. Replacement iPad accessories can be provided to students who have lost or damaged them during the school year. To obtain a replacement accessory, students should go to their Student Quick Pay accounts and look for the “Replacement iPad Accessories” button or bring cash (exact change please) or check (payable to Reagan Middle School) to the front office. The student then needs to bring their dated proof of payment to the front office where they can pick up their replacement item. Reagan Middle School has the following accessories available for replacement:

  • Charging cord $10.00
  • Adapter $10.00
  • Charging block $15.00
  • iPad case $120.00

Please note: Only school-approved accessories may be used to ensure device compatibility and to maintain a safe environment. If you wish to purchase optional third-party insurance for your student's device and accessories, you can find more information here.

Morning Drop Off Procedures

In order to help alleviate some of the traffic backup we typically experience in the morning, we ask that you follow the instructions below for drop off and use the photo as a reference.

  • Please enter the parking lot as directed by security at the intersection and pull forward to fill up all available space along the curb. This enables more cars to enter the parking lot and reduces the car line and amount of time it takes students to enter the building.
  • Please do NOT allow students to exit cars until the car has proceeded past the first crosswalk. There are orange
barriers in place to prevent this. Please follow the direction of staff working to keep everyone safe.
  • All car riders, walkers, and bike riders will enter the building at the back of the building (Door 6) and go through the Evolv system. Bus riders will enter through Door 1 and go through Evolv.
  • Students may begin entering the building at 7:45am and head to the cafeteria to eat breakfast or wait in the gym. At 8:00am students may leave the cafeteria/gym and proceed to class/lockers.
