Thank you for a great week of school!  Here is this week's update:

Superintendent's Advisory Council Representative

Are you interested in being our school’s representative to the Superintendent’s Advisory Council? If so, please me at [email protected] for more information.

The Mustang Advisory Council

The Mustang Advisory Council (MAC) will meet every other month to get updates on important school topics. Per the bylaws, we are looking for someone to be the new MAC chairperson. If you are interested in taking up the mantle, please email me at [email protected] .

8th Grade Field Trip

On Wednesday, students chose their teams for our field trip to Washington DC on October 14. All 8th grade students also received a permission slip to return to their Advisory teacher by Tuesday, October 6. This is required to go on the trip. We will send out an email on Wednesday, October 7 to all those parents who were identified as potential chaperones to finalize our list.

8th Grade Academic Success Skills and High School Planning Session

The Ronald Reagan Middle School Counseling Department warmly invites you to our upcoming 8th Grade Academic Success Skills and High School Planning Information Night, on Wednesday, October 14. We are excited to welcome 8th grade families at Reagan and our neighboring middle schools to this important event.

Here is the event schedule:
• 6:00–6:30 PM –An admissions counselor will present information about the Thomas Jefferson High School for  Science and Technology (TJHSST) application process. More info on TJHSST can be found here.
• 6:30–7:30 PM – Reagan Middle School Presentation about understanding your 8th grader Academic expectations  and how to support your student to prepare for high school.

Topics will include:
o Diploma types and credit requirements, advanced academic coursework
o High school specialty program options
o High school planning timeline

We are pleased to welcome a representative of The Governor’s School @ Innovation Park, and a representative from PWCS’s Advanced Academic and Specialty Programs Department, both of whom will share information about specialty program offerings in Prince William County Public Schools.

Students are welcome to attend with their parents! If you plan to join us, please RSVP using this link. We look forward to seeing you there and partnering with you to support your student’s success.

After School Tutoring

Our after-school tutoring program is back this year and better than ever! After-school tutoring runs every Tuesday,  Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:00-4:45pm. Activity busses are available for those in need of transportation. Students must sign up in advance through the Student Commons Canvas page.

Fall Fest

Join us for Fall Fest on October 23 from 3:30-5:30pm. This is a great event to kick off the school year. I will send out  more information about how to buy tickets next week.

Picture Day Retakes

Our retake day will be on October 29 during the school day. If you have any questions about retakes, please email Mrs.  Saeed at [email protected] 

Front Office Reminders

To report an absence: Please submit any absences on the day of the absence or up to 30 days in advance using the Report Absence button in ParentVUE. If the absence has already passed, please email our attendance mailbox at [email protected] . Please include your student's full name, the date(s) of the absence, and the reason for the absence. We cannot accept attendance over the phone.

For early dismissal: You must come into the building to pick up your student. Please have a picture ID available and check your student out using our iPads. We CANNOT check students out between 2:30 PM and our regular dismissal time at 3:00 PM. Please plan to be here no later than 2:30 PM.

To drop off items/lunches at school: Please let your student know that the item has been dropped off by sending them an email. They do not have phone access during the day, but they can check email. The front office cannot always notify students that they have items or lunches in the front office in a timely manner

PTSO Information

Businesses: The PTSO is conducting the banner fundraiser again this  year. If you have a business and would like to display a banner during the  next school year, please read this document for more information. You can  download the agreement here. 

Important Points of Interest

• Students will only be allowed to carry water bottles throughout the building. They cannot carry any other drinks  including soda, energy drinks, fast food/Starbucks cups, etc.
• Parents may drop off lunch for students, but students may not receive food deliveries such as DoorDash, UberEats, etc. Parents may only drop off food for their own student, not to feed other students as well.

RRMS Technology Replacement and Insurance

Each student was issued an iPad, case, charging block, and charging cord at the start of the school year. We have received questions regarding students who did not receive a charging block and/or charging cord with their iPad. This occurred because the accessory was not returned at the end of the previous school year. Please remember that all devices and accessories are the property of PWCS and should be treated with care. Replacement iPad accessories are available for students who have lost or damaged their original items. To obtain a replacement accessory, students may:

• Pay through their Student Quick Pay account by selecting the “Replacement iPad Accessories” tile, or
• Bring cash (exact change only) or a check payable to Reagan Middle School to the front office.
  After payment has been made, students must bring proof of payment to the front office to receive their replacement item.

Replacement Accessory Fees

• Charging cord $10.00
• Adapter $10.00
• Charging block $15.00
• iPad case $120.00

Please note: Only school-approved accessories may be used to ensure device compatibility and to maintain a safe environment. If you wish to purchase optional third-party insurance for your student's device and accessories, you can find more information here.

Morning Drop Off Procedures

In order to help alleviate some of the traffic backup we typically experience in the morning, we ask that you follow the instructions below for drop off and use the photo as a reference.

• Please enter the parking lot as directed by security at the intersection and pull forward to fill up all available space along the curb. This enables more cars to enter the parking lot and reduces the car line and amount of time it takes students to enter the building.
• Please do NOT allow students to exit cars until the car has proceeded past the first crosswalk. There are orange
  barriers in place to prevent this. Please follow the direction of staff working to keep everyone safe.
• All car riders, walkers, and bike riders will enter the building at the back of the building (Door 6) and go through the Evolv system. Bus riders will enter through Door 1 and go through Evolv.
• Students may begin entering the building at 7:45am and head to the cafeteria to eat breakfast or wait in the gym. At 8:00am students may leave the cafeteria/gym and proceed to class/lockers.
