Megan French
Language Arts Department Chair
8th Grade Language Arts
Team Douglass

Hey there! My name is Miss Megan French and I LOVE teaching! I was born and raised in Northern Virginia. In fact, I am a product of PWCS so I'm very familiar with the way this school system works and the excellent reputation it has. I graduated from East Carolina University with a BS in Middle Grades Education with concentrations in Language Arts and Social Studies. I'm currently pursuing a M.Ed at GMU in Advanced Studies in Teaching and Learning with a concentration in Reading/Literacy, and plan to graduate May 2020. I grew up in Gainesville and I am currently living there. In my free time you can find me (usually at my house) catching up on sleep, watching TV and movies, and listening to music. And true to English teacher form, I truly enjoy reading books and writing in my spare time. I can be found reading anything from Jane Austen to the Hunger Games.

I am very excited about continuing my journey with this my sixth year at Ronald Reagan as an 8th grade Language Arts Teacher!

8th Grade Language Arts is the pinnacle of middle school Language Arts education. It encompasses all of the skills that students learned in 6th and 7th grade LA, but takes it up a level; students are doing a lot of higher order thinking and analysis. The class is structured so that students have time to read and write everyday in class, but of course are encouraged to do so at home as well. Our goal is to equip students with a solid foundation of reading and writing skills that they can carry on to high school and build upon.
